I was honored and excited when Leah and Casey asked me to do their maternity shoot. The were looking for a more rustic shoot and we had debated a few different locations. Some locations charge money to allow shoots, and one in particular we were interested was surprisingly expensive so we decided to venture to some places and see what we could find.
We started our journey in Millbrook, NY. The photo above was actually taken on the side of the road, and while it didn’t look pretty roadside, I knew once the camera was low, with the grass tall, it would like the endless meadow as it does above.
Millbrook has a ton of great places, huge farms, and is a rural country area. We started by taking some shots in a conservation park that is in the area. Casey works in the conservation business, and it was a natural fit for them.
Leah and Casey are a great couple, and they made the entire process incredibly simple and easy. We had a few solid plans, and left a little time open to get play around with some other settings. After leaving the park we headed to their home to get a few shots at which would later become the newborns home!
All in all it was a great day, and the weather was perfect. We had a date a few weeks earlier, but unfortunately it was a torrential downpour, and while I don’t usually shy away from some showers the photoshoot would be worthless if my camera floated away! I’m glad we made the call to wait, as we could not of asked for better weather!
