A Wedding Video Experience
Old Daley on Crooked Lake
If you have followed this blog, you may have seen some articles awhile back about a few wedding videos shot. Video is a much different beast than photography, requires different equipment, a different approach, and a much more intense post-production process.

I recently had the opportunity to video an absolutely beautiful wedding in Averill Park, NY. It was about an hour north of Hyde Park, and the catering hall was “Old Daley on Crooked Lake”, a recently renovated venue nestled on the edge of a gorgeous lake.
The Setup
While I’d love to share the video, the couple requested it not be shared, but I can’t help talk up such a great venue. The ceremony was held in the venue and was setup with candles lining each side of the isle. Set in front of a giant stone fireplace this great couple stated their vows and expressed their love and gratitude of each other and their familes.
Staff and Hired Help
Prior to the ceremony the photographer, Kevin Demassio took some time to get the portrait shots. This was a great opportunity to get some footage for the video including some drone shots to show off and set the stage of the Old Crooked Lake venue. Kevin was a consummate professional and was a pleasure to work with.

The weather wasn’t perfect, and they day started out with rain. The rain actually accentuated the coziness of the venue set on the lake, but the wedding gods were working hard and the rain stopped and sun even broke during the outdoor portraits.
With a little time left before the ceremony, we were able to squeeze in some great individual interviews of the soon-to-be newly weds. The reception was fantastic with a beautifully decorated hall and a top-notch DJ.
Photography and Videography
As a photographer I’m very consciences of the importance of wedding photography, so when put in the position of a videographer I try to stay out of the way and avoid using bright video lights that are distracting to guests and disruptive to the photography.
The staff at Old Daley was fantastic as well, they worked hard and pulled off a great event. Working with Sophia and Brad was an absolute pleasure, and they were such a fantastic couple. I look forward to shooting photos and video at this venue in the future!
